Are you a construction worker trying to get your crew involved in standing up to the contractor? Join us for a series of organizing workshops for rank-and-file building trades workers, whether you're in a union, or not yet.

These workshops are based on our widely acclaimed book Secrets of a Successful Organizer. These workshops will be held via Zoom.

The sessions will run Mondays from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Eastern (4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Pacific) on November 6, 13, and 20. We ask that you attend all three workshops in the series.

Once you register, you will receive a link to join via Zoom. We will send emails weekly with links to sessions on the day of the event. Be sure to check all of your email folders, including your spam folder, for the session links and to download and update Zoom beforehand.

Cost: $15 for the whole series. Includes access to all workshops until space is filled. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Please feel free to contact us with other accessibility needs or questions.

If you have any questions or problems signing up, email keith[at]labornotes[dot]org.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS

Beating Apathy
Are you hitting a cement wall when you try to get other workers involved? This workshop is for you. Hear success stories from those who’ve turned their jobsites around and turned apathy into action. Learn practical organizing tools for engaging your co-workers, taking action, and getting results.

Assembling Your Dream Team
Your union may feel scattered across twenty jobsites and forty crews, but you're not starting from zero. There’s organization there already—though it might have nothing to do with the union. Learn how to map out existing networks on site and off, identify the leaders in those networks, and then knit them together into an organizing committee.

Turning an Issue into a Campaign
Every construction site has complaints and frustrations, and an organizer has the power to turn problems into opportunities. Learn how to sort through the issues you hear from co-workers, bring people together, and make a plan to solve them.
