UCORE 2023 CONFERENCE
Event at a Glance
Date
Join us for UCORE's 2023 summer conference.
This is an invite-only conference for educators working in caucuses and/or within their locals. UCORE is a national network of PreK-12 educator caucuses whose members share strategies, workshop challenges, and support each other as we work to transform our unions. Some UCORE caucuses have been active for more than ten years. Others are just getting started. Some hold leadership positions within their unions. Others are 'being the union they want their union to be.' If you'd like to invite educators you know in other districts or regions, please notify Barbara Madeloni (barbara[at]labornotes[dot]org).
More details, including the conference schedule and program, will be posted soon.
Location: This year's conference is in New York City and is hosted by the Movement of Rank and File Educators (MORE-UFT). We are still confirming the location for the meetings, but it will be near the housing.
Cost: Basic registration is $100. If you'd like to make an added contribution, choose the UCORE solidarity option of $125. If you are unable to pay the full $100, a $75 fee is available. Registration fees will go to conference meals and to help sponsor UCORE activists traveling long distances. Scholarship funds are available for travel. Please fill out this form.
Applications for travel scholarships are due June 22, 2023. Applications will be reviewed by steering committee members and notifications will be sent by June 27.
Schedule: Registration for the conference begins Friday, July 28 at 12:00 p.m. The closing session will wrap up before 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 30.
Housing: Housing has been reserved at The Towers CCNY, 401 West 130th Street, NY, NY 10027. All rooms are singles and cost $74 per night. You can purchase your registration (see below) and housing at once by adding both to your online shopping cart.
Getting around: The Towers are accessible via public transit. Stay tuned for details about airport travel and other logistics.
See you in July,
The UCORE Steering Committee
