is assistant editor of Labor Notes.
I was in SEIU 790 in San Francisco having a hard time fighting the bureaucrats and was very frustrated. I met another troublemaker in SEIU from the east coast who told me that I was in the second most corrupt SEIU local in the country! I then realized why I was having such a hard time -- that I was in a larger fight than I thought and it wasn't my fault that success was taking so long. It liberated me from self-blaming, and opened me up to learning much more from Labor Notes! And the bureaucrat was eventually put on trial and had to leave the country to avoid jail!!!
